چکیده

Objective: To compare the effect of percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) and microvascular decompression (MVD) in treatment trigeminal neuralgia (TN).
Methods: Data 98 patients with TN, admitted to Chenzhou First People’s Hospital from May 2020 2022, were retrospectively collected. Patients divided into two groups based on surgical method. A total 53 treated PBC comprised PBC-group 45 MVD MVD-group. The immediate pain relief, long-term efficacy, complications, masticatory muscle strength compared analyzed.
Results: There was no significant difference relief e between (P>0.05). Complication rate significantly lower than that MVD-group (3.77% vs 17.78%, P<0.05). Medical records within 14 days after operation showed incidence facial numbness weakness 37.74% 28.30% respectively, higher those (4.44% 2.22%) (P<0.05). These symptoms gradually improved three months surgery, almost completely resolved six months.
Conclusions: Compared MVD, has same TN. is a minimally invasive, safe, effective method low complication rate. Although slightly impacted by PBC, it recovers operation.

Percutaneous balloon compression for trigeminal neuralgia.

Percutaneous balloon compression is a simple and effective treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. It is especially useful in patients with first-division pain because it does not injure the myelinated fibers that mediate the blink reflex. It is most helpful in patients with pain that has spread across multiple divisions because it does not require multiple lesions. It is also helpful in patients w...

Microvascular decompression treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.

PURPOSE The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of microvascular decompression treatment prospectively in 40 patients with trigeminal neuralgia who were resistant to medical treatments and underwent microvascular decompression surgery (MVDS) between the years 2008 and 2010. METHODS The patients' data were collected as per norms suggested by Zakrzewska and Lopez and followed...

Microvascular Decompression for Trigeminal Neuralgia.

BACKGROUND Trigeminal Neuralgia (TGN) is the most frequently diagnosed type of facial pain. In idiopathic type of TGN it is caused by the neuro-vascular conflict involving trigeminal nerve. Microvascular decompression (MVD) aims at addressing this basic pathology in the idiopathic type of TGN. This study was conducted to determine the outcome and complications of patients with idiopathic TGN un...

Microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia.

Eleven patients with intractable trigeminal neuralgia were treated by posterior fossa microvascular decompression. Complete pain relief was achieved in 7 patients (63.3%). Partial relief of symptoms was noted in 3 patients (27%). There was no operative mortality. Two patients developed transient lower cranial nerve palsies whereas one patient developed a CSF leak, requiring treatment by lumbar ...
